Day 1- London - Paris (2 nights)
We drive to Dover for our Channel crossing to France, where we join our coach and drive across World War I Battlefields to Paris. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2- Paris sightseeing & at leisure
Morning sightseeing includes an ascent to the second level of the Eiffel Tower, a drive along the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral. Then time at leisure to shop or explore. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 3- Paris – Chartres – Bordeaux
Our first stop is at Chartres, renowned for its Cathedral's windows. Then we continue on to the Loire at Tours and the wine-region of Bordeaux for the night. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4- Bordeaux – Lourdes

Day 5- Lourdes – Pau – Biarritz – Burgos

Day 6- Burgos - Madrid (2 nights)

Day 7- Madrid sightseeing & at leisure

Day 9- Barcelona sightseeing & at leisure

Our morning drive takes us into France along the coast via fashionable Cannes and on to Nice, capital of the Cote d’Azur. Dinner is at a typical French restaurant this evening. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

Day 11- Nice – Monaco & Perfumery Excursion
Today we drive to the Principality of Monaco where we see the Palace of the Grimaldis and the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Day 12- Nice – Pisa – Montecatini
After breakfast this morning we drive past Genoa, Columbus' birthplace, before arriving in Pisa to view the incredible Leaning Tower. Then on to the popular spa town of Montecatini for the night. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 13- Montecatini – Florence – Assisi
Today we drive to Florence where our guided walking tour, using our effective audio system, features the Cathedral and Baptistery and visits Santa Croce Basilica, Signoria Square and the Academy of Fine Arts to see Michelangelo's statue of 'David'. Then time at leisure to explore or shop before driving up to Piazzale Michelangelo for stunning views of the city. Finally, across the Tuscan and Umbrian hills to Assisi. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 14- Assisi – Pompeii – Sorrento
Orientation of this peaceful town shows us the Basilica of St. Francis and the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Next, past the Abbey of Monte Cassino before a walking tour of Pompeii enhanced by the use of our audio equipment and brought to life again by our local guide! Finally, on to our hotel in Sorrento. Day 16- Rome sightseeing & at leisure

Day 17- Rome – Venice (Lido) (2 nights)

Day 18- Venice sightseeing & at leisure

Day 19- Venice (Lido) – Vienna (2 nights)

Day 23- Oberammergau – Liechtenstein – Lucerne (2 nights)

CH11 - LUCERNE. Mount Pilatus
A scenic lakeshore drive brings us to our cog-wheel railway, where we board our train to the summit of Lucerne’s most well-known mountain. Here you have time to explore, admire the many sweeping views and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Later a series of cable cars will bring us gradually down through fields and forests to the foot of this majestic mountain. (On certain departures the ascent as well as the descent of the mountain will be by cable car only)

ESP6a - MADRID. El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen
This guided tour takes us first to the royal city of El Escorial. This great monastery-palace was built in the foothills of the Guadarrama mountains by Philip II, in thanksgiving for his victory over the French at the battle of St. Quentin in 1557. After a break for lunch, we continue to visit the memorial built by Franco to those who fell in the Civil War. High in the mountains, with splendid views, this amazing memorial was cut into the rock face to create the largest basilica ever built. It is surmounted by a cross some 410 feet high.

First we drive past the ancient baths of the Emperor Caracalla, scene of the ‘3 tenors concert’ in 1990, to the Catacombs outside the Roman Walls. Christians used these underground churches and cemeteries for assemblies and to escape persecution. Then on to visit the 5th century Church of St. Peter in Chains*, housing not only the chains which are said to have fettered St. Peter, but also one of Michelangelo’s greatest works of sculpture – Moses – a statue belonging to the mausoleum of Julius II.
